From what some of the old timers here have said, Richard Thomas started the show with a 5 year contract and didn't want to tie himself in any longer.

Hard to believe Ellen Corby was only 65 when she had her stroke. I would have guessed her in the upper 70's +.

Ralph Waite has already appeared on NCIS as Jethro Gibbs' father twice -- I hope this means a third visit, and not just a repeat.....

From what some of the old timers here have said, Richard Thomas started the show with a 5 year contract and didn't want to tie himself in any longer. Also -- He aleady had many acting jobs under his belt, unlike the other "children." Very serious about his acting endeavors, he understandably wouldn't want to be tied down very long. I'm surprised he stayed as long as he did -- and thrilled !

Interesting that Michael said her relationship with Richard was 'up and down' - you'd think that would show in their acting but that certainly wasn't the case. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall.

I'd love to have been a fly on the wall. Oh.... that's true in many, many productions. One of my favorite examples is "Dirty Dancing" -- Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayzey HATED each other !!! That's what acting is all about

I saw her moved to tears in an interview about his illness. Who said they hated each other?

I saw her moved to tears in an interview about his illness. Who said they hated each other? It's fairly well documented -- you can find articles online. But, I heard about it soon after the movie came out -- from a close friend of Joel Grey.

Started questioning my own memory about Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze and didn't want to spread any rumors.... so, I checked back. I must admit I was "a little off" .... it seems that Jennifer couldn't stand Patrick and he kept trying to win her over. Didn't work. But they did not end up actual enemies.... Sorry....

The "People" magazine article was great. I watched most of the shows while I was in college, but missed a lot of the later shows working late shifts. I'm trying to catch up--only problem is 3 channels in the LA area air the Waltons at same or overlapping times!!
