This past Monday May 10 TCM Cable carried a 1949 movie called Intruder in the Dust about a mob which threatens to kill a black man accused of a murder he did not commit. The part of the Sherriff in this movie was played by Will Geer, Grandpa Walton

I note that at 2:00 a.m. Eastern, Sunday a.m., TCM has Will Geer in something called It's a Small World (1950). Sounds like a crime drama. hope it doesn't have the infamous Disney song in it!

Annnnd, following that at 3:15 a.m., we have the ghastly horror film Macabre (1958), with Ellen Corby in a supporting role, quite a bit younger but still very Grandma-ish.
Sorry I didn't report these sooner!

Tomorrow (Monday) TCM has Howard Keel musicals all day. I'm sure that some of us would enjoy that.

Will was also Wyatt Earp in Winchester '73 Will Geer also played the prosecuting attorney in the movie "In Cold Blood" based on the novel by Truman Capote. He is shown making his closing argument near the end of the movie.

FLIX is one of those premium cable movie channels to which I don't subscribe. However, their "On Demand" channel has (free) the 1999 film Cradle Will Rock, www.imdb.com/title/tt0150216/?ref_=nv_sr_1about the rough times that theater people had (along with everybody else) in the 1930s. Will Geer is one of the characters depicted. Leftist politics warning, but you may find it interesting.

I also just watched a 1950 western called Broken Arrow in which James Stewart knocks Will Geer out in a saloon after Geer begins yelling and accusing him of being an "Indian lover". Geer had brownish/red hair and a moustache. His voice is very recognizable being so high pitched. His name was Ben Slade in the movie--definitely not a good guy.

Intruder in the Dust, with Will Geer, is on Turner Classic Movies at 12:15 Sunday morning (i.e., Saturday night just after midnight).
The star of the film is Juano Hernandez, a black character actor whom I've only seen in four or five films, but who never fails to make an indelible impression.

Tomorrow, July 1, Turner Classic Movies has Jeremiah Johnson (1972) at 8 p.m. Eastern.
Will Geer plays a crazy bear hunter. Not to be missed!

Thursday, July 9, 11:00 p.m., TCM has The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951), with Patricia Neal.
Friday, July 10, 1:30 p.m., TCM has Caged (1950), with Ellen Corby.
Edited to add: It seems that August 16 will be a Patricia Neal Day on TCM.
(Maybe a moderator could change the title of this topic to "Walton Player Sightings" or something more general.)
