You must be a Canadian like me! I too have read several of the "Miss Read" books and enjoyed them very much, and I like the ones illustrated by John S. Goodall...a favourite artist/illustrator of mine. :-)

Another book series that reminds me of The Waltons is the Baxter series by Karen Kingsbury. They're excellent. You can find more about them on her website. There's 14 books total, which my seem daunting at first, but it's really a good series.

Books by author Janette Oke are really well done and they are in simliar family theme like the Waltons

One book that is much like The Waltons, which I mentioned before in a previous post, is "To Kill a Mocking-Bird" by Harper Lee, its a very good book!

try " Wish you well" by David Baldacci- not like his other books but a family that has to go live in the mountains with their grandmother after a tragic accident leaves their mother disabled . Very good story. One of the best that I have ever read.
